General Meeting Minutes
Thursday, March 20, 2008
Welcome and introduction: Introduction of Chapter and Vice President Rick Broderick.
Introduction of NEW members: New members and first-time attendees were announced and those present introduced themselves. Membership director Kris Burch invited non-members to join and take advantage of the membership benefits that RIMS offers.
Introduction of ALL attendees: Meeting attendees introduced themselves.
Minutes Approval: Minutes from the February meeting were emailed to members with the March meeting notice. February minutes were approved by members in attendance with no changes.
Newsletter: Chapter Communications Director Lauren DeRidder asked for articles for our upcoming newsletter. The next newsletter will go out in April and she asked for submissions to be emailed to her at lderidder@coadvantage.com. The Chapter is looking for deputy and/or associate member volunteers to serve on a Communications Committee—if interested or you would like more information, please see or contact Lauren.
Register for Member Meetings in Advance: Reminder that there is a $10 cost savings ($25 vs. $35) for registering for member meetings in advance via the RIMS website.
Meeting Cancellation Policy: If you register for a meeting and are unable to attend, the Chapter will provide a refund if cancellation is received no later than the Monday of the meeting week. After Monday, however, no refunds will be provided. You can allow someone else to come in your place if you cannot attend.
Treasurer’s Report: Susan Martin presented the Treasurer’s Report stating we have $13,456.67 in checking and $3,019.20 in the Chapter’s investment account.
Scholarship: The Chapter Education committee will be working to award a scholarship to a deserving risk management student this year. We are looking for a non-board deputy member to serve on the committee (time commitment is minimal and effort very rewarding). If interested, please see or contact Chapter Education Director and Committee Chair Michele Adams (Michele.Adams@disney.com).
2008 RIMS National Annual Conference in San Diego April 27 – May 1: Rick reminded everyone that the registration goes up $200 after March 28.
2008 RIMS Florida Annual Conference in Naples July 29 – August 2 (Rick): Rick reminded everyone to register and advised of the deadlines.
Speaker Introduction: Sara Webster introduced today’s speaker: Attorney Herb Langston, with Langston, Hess, Bolton, Znosko & Shepard; topic: “Legislative Update”
Closing remarks: Rick thanked those who attended today and reminded everyone there will be
NO MONTHLY APRIL meeting because of the National Conference. We hope to see everyone at our next meeting on May 15th at Dubsdread Country Club. Topic: “Facilities Disaster Preparedness”
