General Meeting Minutes
Thursday, February 21, 2008
Welcome and introduction: Introduction of Chapter and President Mitzi Dykes.
Thought for the Day: Mitzi gave a thought for the day, to never take your loved ones for granted.
Introduction of NEW members: New members and first-time attendees were announced and those present introduced themselves. Membership director Kris Burch invited non-members to join and take advantage of the membership benefits that RIMS offers.
Introduction of ALL attendees: Meeting attendees introduced themselves.
Minutes Approval: Lori Keefer announced that minutes from January were emailed to members with the February meeting notice. Rick Broderick motioned to approve the January minutes, Lauren DeRidder seconded and all were in favor.
Newsletter for 1st Q 2008: Communications director Lauren DeRidder pointed out the articles, pictures and calendar in our latest chapter newsletter and reminded everyone that copies of the newsletter are available on our chapter website. The next newsletter will go out in April and she asked for submissions to be emailed to her at lderidder@coadvantage.com.
Treasurer’s Report: Susan Martin presented the Treasurer’s Report stating we have $17,996.24 in assets.
2008 RIMS Annual Conference in San Diego April 27 – May 1: Mitzi reminded everyone that the early bird registration deadline for the Annual RIMS conference is Feb. 29th! Price goes up $100 starting March 1, then up $200 after March 28.
Golf Tournament 6/19 Committee (Chair TBD): Mitzi asked for volunteers to sit on the Golf Committee and a deputy risk manager volunteer to serve as committee chair. Shannon Featherman and Lisa Matthews volunteered to serve on the committee.
Speaker Introduction (Sara): Sara Webster introduced today’s speaker: Jeffrey Anderson, CPCU, Senior VP, Willis Exec. Risk, Atlanta. Topic “Directors & Officers Issues, including International.”
Thank Speaker: Mitzi thanked the speaker and presented him with a gift.
Closing remarks:
Mitzi thanked all attendees, asked them to leave their name tags, and invited everyone to attend our next meeting on March 20th at Dubsdread Country Club. Topic: “Legislative Update.”
